Actually I was using 2.95.2. The Jaguar tools were 2.6.3, which did present some problems, if I remember correctly.

You can use C and 68000 assembly language to write games. Porting a game from either the Genesis or SNES would require a decent amount of rewriting. The CD-i does not have a built in sprite or tile system, you have to write the code to blit the tiles and sprites to the screen (and erase the sprites ...

Question for homebrew developers: should I keep the xgcc name or should it be os9gcc ? Not that it really matters much, it's just the driver (typically handled with a single CC = xgcc line in your Makefile). Note that the Microware cross-compiler is called xcc (it's assembler is r68 , the linker is...

I thought Pete was working at Mirage when he converted Rise of the Robots on CD-i. Speaking of Pete, did you see the interview in Retro Games, in the last issue (or current issue here)? It was more focused on his homebrew efforts, rather than the CD-i. Rise of the Robots (and CD-ice) did get mentio...

The lack of some form of gaming hardware (sprites or tiles) is an odd choice for a game system around that time period. There are a few systems, from the time period, that didn't have dedicated hardware. The Atari ST and Archimedes both lacked any type of sprites or tiles, and didn't have a blitter....

Just picked up CM2 and CE1 which should have seperate levels of Gobliiins according to the CD-i master Alan! :D Checked the files on each disc and discovered a 140KB file called cdi_gob.mdo, I'd imagine this is the game Gobliiins. Interestingly the exact file size on both CM2 and CE1 is 147,456 Byt...

Looking forward to it Charles! Your 3DO work looks impressive to say the least. Does the tool kit open up free development on any 3DO player with only the use of a windows PC? Yep, any 3DO player that can handle reading of a CD-R will work with the toolkit. The only things not supported, by the too...

Devin wrote:Nice one Charles! Keep us posted, any chance of enhancements over version 1.0?
No, it will strictly be a re-release.

I am working on something new, though. Hopefully I'll have something to show on August 20th.

Not sure where Frog Feast stands these days. Since it was published under oldergames banner which got sold on! Any clue Charles? For Frog Feast's 5th anniversary (August 20th 2010), the last three versions of Frog Feast will be released, and all of the other versions (except the Jaguar/Jaguar CD) w...

Magic Card CD-I/Arcade system?

I was just reading through the MESS forums, where they were discussing MAME supporting Magic Card, which runs on a modified version of the CD-I system. http://www.bannister.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=47744#Post47744 Here's a quote from the .130 what's new: Fixed colors, visible ar...

Thanks for the resources, just what I was looking for. What other tools did you use? Did you just use PC Applications or did you use actual CD-i authoring hardware? I have a CD-i 605 player, but mainly used the CD-i emulator. I only used the CD-i 605 player to track down an obscure bug. I did use a...

Would you say that the Philips cd-i is now your favourite old skool console to develop on? I don't know that I really have a favorite console to develop on. The CDi is fun do develop for because of the challenges that must be overcome to create something playable. Many other game systems (FM Towns,...

Hehe. nice job.

There has been some development on a new title, but I'll wait until I can actually show something....

Hint: Chaos Tayoko. (Tnat's about as generic as I can be).
