Store Kiosk Disks?
Anyone have any? I don't mean like kiosk demos of cd-i games, but stuff like this "K-mart Battery Center" Disk I found in the DVS-200 I won on ebay. Is there any interest in preserving this stuff? My disk has the following on the front: K-mart Battery Center Digital Video (with the digital video log...

That information you mentioned is exactly what I'm looking for; a simple test with a multimeter! Your timekeeper module should look like this one: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_60EdE-4xjwk/SgPm4KG72nI/AAAAAAAAGWA/TwdbLNWOSJ8/s1600-h/17.png To test the battery connect the multimeter leads (set to dc vol...

Any idea why? The touchpad is pretty much a single data line selector/mux ic of some sort, like most console controllers, and wires. AFAIK there isn't any crazy signal that should cause any problems. Is it possible that not all controllers ports on cd-i players follow a specified pinout? IIRC the cd...

Sounds like a possible laser calibration issue. I have a Pal 490 but it died completely (Tray opens and closes, and one of the motors make some noise, but the cd does not spin, and nothing displays on the front display, and nothing on the tv) so I don't know how the laser in the 490 should be calibr...

Yes the MCD212. Straight from the doc: "The VDSC supports NTSC monitor, NTSC TV, and PAL TV formats as well as providing a means to display images in one format that were created in the other. This compatibility feature allows this part to be used throughout the world. Also, interlace and non–interl...

There isn't a point on the player coming my way, but I thought I'd just mention the possibility. But you are absolutely right, looking at the docs on teh motorola chip, you need to swap a crystal oscillator (from like 30 mhz to 30.2something), and set a certain bit or 3 in a register to a 1 or 0, wh...

No offense to anyone who bought these, but I can't believe anyone feel for some lightscribe bootleg zelda cd-i games. As it's been stated their appearance is completely inconsistent with actual preproduction copies of cd-i software. Forget the fact he that he claims he got them at a NYC comic con, y...

Out of curiosity, anyone have this model? I was just wondering what people's experience with it is. That's an absolute steal at under $30! I also have one of these and it is without a doubt the best CD-i player I ever used. Although this is a DVS it is basically a rebadged LG GDI-700 (which I also ...

Likely a faulty cord on the touchpad and an incompatible remote. I bought a cd-i touch pad that was completely unresponsive, took a multimeter and checked the continuity from the end to the board in the controller, sure enough there were several internal breaks in the wires down the cord. Replaced w...

Won an auction for a DVS VE-200 cd-i player on the bay yesterday: http://cgi.ebay.com/DVS-CD-Interactive-Player-LG-Electronics_W0QQitemZ290360482102QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Drives_Storage_Internal?hash=item439ad55936 For $9.95 + ~$15 to ship, it was re-listed once due to zero bids. Seems like the sell...
