programming

Well I'm glad there is some collaboration going on to move it all forward regardless of the difference in paths. I was really referring to player idiosyncracies in the software/hardware interfaces referenced to the green book but if you're pretty much directly emulating the roms then that shouldn't ...

programming

Well I'd be happy to help if I you need it - I'm pretty expert at OS9/68000 assembler, am intimately familiar with all the ins and outs of CD-i hardware/software issues, and have a large amount of embedded/OS Linux/Unix experience and C/C++/C#/etc... I know you're collaborating with the MAME folks a...

fmv demo

Yes but it gave a lot of insights at the time as to how to at least start to achieve some of the results of the impressive demos on that disc. I think that disk probably was not graceful in terms of whether or not the FMV card was present. Were you a CD-i developer at the time? I'm in the process of...

development with the 605

Yeah I agree that it was possible to upload and run software on the regular CD-i players in the same way, although we rarely used that capability except when we were developing something somewhat hardware specific, for example when I was developing the interface for displaying information on the LED...

I2M cards

I still have all the versions made of the I2M cards - PC/Mac PCI and ISA and the software for them. There were not a huge number of software releases for I2M and there do appear to be 2 or 3 versions posted. Interestingly as well you could piece together a complete CD-i OS9 kernel rom from the files...

development with the 605

Hi, you can actually use the 605 without a disc emulator for program development. You simply burn your assets to a disc and run the software from a connected hard drive or the floppy drive - starting the software from the terminal connection. With the right software on the 605 hard drive and connect...

I2M PCI cards

I programmed a lot of CD-i professional titles and used the I2M PCI cards extensively. Never had any problems with them - they are really pretty nice PCI cards. I believe that we did get the card drivers working on an NT system in addition to Win95/98, although there were a lot of gyrations necessar...

I was a CD-i professional developer. I started as chief engineer for a video-disc manufacturing facility where we were heavily involved with the automotive industries and military which were using laser discs for training. I developed recording technologies, including as an adjunct requirement inter...
