Think I found the problem the other day - the ground on the controller didn't connect to the ground on the console; when it did, the cursor moved quickly; also, Mario Hotel worked fine - ie "up" to open a door, "down" to exit door - rather than "up + down" to open door. Must have been a faulty cable...

Just the standard: http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/a/a1/PhilipsCD-i_photo.jpg/250px-PhilipsCD-i_photo.jpg Only had two games of interest, Backgammon and Mario Hotel, Mario Hotel fortunately doesn't use the mouse cursor so no issue on that front. Would be interesting to know though why the...

Didn't think it did support RGB, couldn't see any chips on the board that looked like they could either.

My board is composite and audio output only, good enough though.

Actually, made great progress. It is working and installed into a section for my Alpha Omega system - 17 original hardware console systems in one unit with one power cable, one controller for all and one SCART for video and audio output.

RGB on CD-i 450 - possible?

I have a Philips CD-i 450/5 (PAL); it doesn't look like it supports RGB, can it? (easily).

Cursor moves really slow!

Is it a standard "feature" of the CD-i that the cursor moves so painfully slowly around the screen that games are unplayable that need the mouse? Seems to take about 20 seconds to go from one side of the screen to the other! Nuts! I have a CDi450/5, PAL.

I had around 44 games, burnt format I got off ebay with my CD-i - played all of them, and only think Mario Hotel is a good game, the rest are bad. Sorry. Platformers are like bad DOS games and the character doesn't move properly, the "interactive" ones are bad. The only other game that looked fine w...

Nope, seems fine. Am in the process of modding the CD-i, although in practice, doesn't seem much you can mod on the CD-i.

The CD-i controller

I had played some Mario Hotel on my newly acquired Philips CD-i yesterday and was having fun on it, despite the lousy supplied controller. Then, the up on the d-pad seemed to stop working for no reason, so, thinking it might be a bit of grit or whatever, decided to open up the only CD-i controller I...

Good, I like a challenge! lol BTW, if there is a call for rehousing CD-i controllers into other controllers, i'll be happy to offer that as a modding service, if anyone is interested, PM me please. I hadn't thought about this until your post Bas! I rehoused two BGP-100 bluetooth controllers (see my ...

Hi, just joined! My hobby is modding video console systems, and i'm making a console system with 19 original console boards. Just bought a CD1 450 console, going to include it in the system (the system is Alpha Omega). I'm going to be reading up on various topics on this forum with interest, and hop...
