The top one has a more standard cd-rom caddy (like some plextor drives), the bottom one has a 'Philips' style cd caddy. There's also a third design in the book Philips , study of corporate management and design, although I think that's not part of a CD-i player but rather another system (MSX?).

Not really that rare, sold for about 10-25 euros. Really depends on the market, they are not sold very often like other players but usually there are also close to zero people looking for it. Also note that a lof of the unit's I've seen in .nl were 110V models. With the third unit attached it's much...

But my unit has spent years being unused; your mileage may vary. I've seen several of these for sale around Eindhoven over the years, always in very good condition. I think they were mostly used as portable demonstration units and wouldn't have seen much use. Mostly just sitting inside a flightcase...

I have a PCI I2M card. I've never seen the ISA card, but I've had 3 PCI cards so I would think the ISA card would be much rarer. Also probably impossible to find software for that.

They were released in France, or more specific it was a French company that made them. In my memory they were a bit buggy, they either work in W95 or W98 not both. I also had some problems with using a PC-mouse in CD-i games and certain display modes crash the card. It's quite usefull, with the card...

No, it's not worth 50 euro - at least to me. Testing phase to me would sound like the kind of disc you'd send to that outfit in Belgium where they certified discs and made sure they ran on all kinds of CD-i player. I also have quite a few of these sort of discs.

According to the photo on http://www.icdia.co.uk/players/professional.html the 602 model doesn't have a tray to open, but uses caddies instead. You were aware of that? The cdi602 is not a development/authoring unit, more like a standard cd-i player wih floppy drive and without upgrade capability for...
