I didn't, just follow the quotes. The question is what Cyril was talking about.

Re: Defuncts' 33 consoles of Christmas: Philips CD-i Edition

Maybe he is talking about the 210 as that is rather large compared with most consoles and quite 'adult' looking, i wouldnt call it ugly though. Of course, he's talking about the 210. (2nd port on the back, does not apply to the 450) When talking about the 210, I would even agree. I sold my 210 beca...

Re: Create the ultimate CD-i Mod

Come to think of it Burn:Cycle would be the perfect donor game. Now just the small problem of ripping apart the crap black exterior and making it into something cool. Suggestions... Very nice idea! When I read it, I immediately thought about letting someone airbrush the Burn:Cycle cover on the case...

@banna: Could you please tell us if you really want to play all tracks simultaneously? There was some confusion about that. If so, you would need a PC with a soundcard that offers at least 8 channels, it can't be done with CD-i. If not, an audio cd will do the job. (or a video cd if you want to have...

i thought the cd drives only have one gear wheel? At least, there must be a guiding rail on the other side. That can be supported by a gear wheel, but that really depends on the tray construction. And.... is the 210 inside not of the same architecture as the 220? I don't have a 210 anymore either. ...

Nope. It only describes how to listen to audio in IFF and MPEG files. :(

So this closing problem is more general than I thought. What happens here? Look at these pics where one side of the tray broke off, while it didn't want to close with it. Without this part it has no problem, but, like-wise, you can't put in a CD-i like this. What goes wrong here? Now that's a fully...

Fortunately, I never got something that was claimed to be factory-sealed but was really re-sealed. However, I often see such dubious stuff on ebay. Simple rule is: Don't buy sealed games if the sealing looks cheap or if it is shrink -wrapped. I'm not sure how this was done with the large box titles,...

Most likely MediaMogul files. Not sure which format they are then, though -- but certainly not mpeg.

He said earlier that the user should be able to choose from 8 tracks. So I don't think he means that all 8 tracks should be played simultaneously.

The CD-i 205/910 bios works best for me. Most others I tried either have problems with the cursor movement or don't work at all.

banna wrote:So here are my plans. I want to create a CD-i but only with diverse soundfiles. (i think .mpeg1 or 2?) So a CD-i- Player read it and the user can choose from 8 tracks.
That's easy. Just create a VideoCD with 8 chapters (one for each track) and use a still frame for the video stream.

I'll write a tutorial about how to do it. It must be done quite carefully, as the battery contains some electronics (a diode, a PTC thermistor and a charging current limiter).
