I didn't realize you meant an actual game ... you see, in the States the game was simply titled "Yoshi."
The constant changing of names of video games in the 1980s/1990s remains one of the most confusing and annoying things ever. "Lylat Wars"? What kind of stupid name is that?

I think you misunderstood. I like the Mario series as a whole. But there a few games I dislike in the franchise, such as the bland "Mario Party DS", and the slightly less awful puzzler "Mario & Yoshi", which has nice graphics and sound, but I can't stand the annoying, frustrating gameplay. A SEGA ga...

It's not so much that I love "Hotel Mario" (I like it, but consider it flawed and repetitive), more that I can't stand "Mario & Yoshi". I wouldn't say "Hotel Mario" and "Wrecking Crew" are "similar", but they share a surprising number of elements, such as going into a door to avoid an enemy. The odd...

For a CD-i game Hotel Mario is pretty good. Like the Zelda games, it can't compare to the Nintendo Mario games. Still, given they machine, and the rest of the CD-i's library, it's not bad. I may be the only person in the world who likes "Hotel Mario" more than "Mario & Yoshi" (Gameboy, also on NES)...

Though not published by Philips, The 1997 short film* "Ghosts" (starring Michael Jackson) comes to mind. Kinda shocked it isn't on DVD, except in heavily edited "music video" form.

For some reason I found the controls more responsive* and faster when played with the CD-i mouse. But of course that makes the "up" and "down" needs for the elevators much harder to do. (*compared to the "4 button" gamepad with a stupid fake screw-in joystick, with a switch for left-handed players. ...

Looking for FMV clip from "Video Speedway"

While "Video Speedway" is easily my least favourite CD-i game, it does have nice cover-art, and one other thing... There is a clip shown after winning second place somewhere in the game that features a bimbo holding a cup and saying something like "Wow! Second place...that's like...the best of the l...

One of the best on the system...love the overall "1990s" feel to it. Very retro and cool.

I've had so many comments saying 'CD-i is bad, AVGN said so!"... pretty sad when people can't think for themselves anymore and deny themselves an open minded experience. I love the Internet. Only place where millions of people can hate a game that sold less than 200,000 copies, usually on a system ...

My bedroom is really two rooms that were combined. In the "original" part of the room (where the bed is), is where the handhelds, the Wii, Dreamcast (almost never use this, must expand my wimpy Dreamcast game collection) and VirtualBoy are. The other part of the bedroom is where the where the CD-i, ...

Interite, hope you really enjoy "Arcade Classics".

"Galaga" port on it isn't so hot, but "Ms Pac-Man" translates well, and really, the novelty of playing it on CD-i is more than enough to make it worth playing. The version of "Galaxian" is pretty good as well.

Calling the PS1 a "demon possessed console of doom" is an insult to demons everywhere. Some great games on the system, sure, but the console itself is utterly charmless and the graphics have aged far worse than the sprites of the SNES, Mega Drive, etc.

i dont know about it , So ... why bother posting? :? My username is a comic book/cartoon character who, at one point in his strange life, would kill people he disliked (and even ones he didn't know if he was bored) using a "sand-coffin". Perhaps we should call him up from cartoonland and see how he...

Well, being born in 1990 and living in a country where CD-i was never issued, I never heard of it while it was current. But I think it was 1999 or 2000 and there was a retro gaming/computer site ("Computer Closet") I used to visit regularly (they almost never updated, I just liked re-reading the sam...

High price, limited range of software, poor marketing in many countries, lack of any release in other countries. I don't know if it is relevant, but my dad worked de-bugging PC CD-ROM business software at the Australian devision of Philips during the mid-1990s and he had never heard of CD-i until I ...
