I'll have to defer to cdifan, but isn't it possible to dump any data held in NVRAM with cdilink then pump it back once the modification is done?

I've not had to do the solder fix myself Al!

Bas has covered this in great depth with various links from the people that have done this work on a CD-i. Just check out his blog for the answers and remember DO NOT mix up the + with the - otherwise it will burn your player!

No, no modification is necessary! It was built well, just a shame it lacks a DVC.

However long a CR2032 lasts depending on the make.

Not to my knowledge!

That screenshot looks like a sprite tile to me so it's not actually 'in game'!

It wouldn't surprise me if it were CD-i. Back then it was a cheap and effective method to get this training software in the right hands. This was before the days of cheap laptops using powerpoint and projectors, which still to this day offers little in the way of interaction for training! interactiv...

BeoCenter AV5

Was considering getting one of these for pure chic value, just as Bas posts a blog entry . Been reading up on the subject and it ticks all the right boxes including 2 input ports. Also the manual hints that it is capable of Video-CD playback! So I guess DVC is integrated? Be interesting to tear one ...

Just a CR2032 battery that you can insert in a trap door opening underneath the player.

Although to save the saves when replacing the battery It'll probably need to be connected to the mains.

Thanks for the advice. I've heard about a dead battery in certain models (not sure what its for). What is that referring to, and is this one of those models that it can affect? All CD-i players except the Portable SONY IVO-V11, Portable Philips 370, DVS DVE-200 and the LG GDI 700 which all used CR2...

I would go for a 450, just make sure it includes a Digital Video Cartridge or DVC for short! Also the 450 needs a power brick that was particular to this model of CD-i so make sure it's not missing. http://www.icdia.co.uk/players/cdi450.jpg The DVC allows greater compatibility with games that need e...
