On the 450 I remember the lid has a small pin that is pushed in when the player is closed, and perhaps there is dust in it that prevents good contact?
Maybe some blowing does the trick?

I like Steel Machine a lot, but it is VERY difficult. I think it's might be the hardest CD-i game I ever played. I had a lot of trouble to beat the first level (I never finished it). Perhaps that says more about me

I asked myself that very question, a long time ago already. I don't think it will peak again. Even when cdifan publshed the first update of CD-i Emulator, there was hardly any interest. I must say, the activity this year thanks to you guys is better than last year :) My own activity here is also low...

The flying levels were simply not possible on CD-i, that's why they made them into a full motion video. The whole game is made in FMV, which makes the graphics far better than the 3DO version. I'd highly recommend playing with the mouse, you have a lot more freedom compared to a button controller.

They do, but some brands work better than others. If a burnt game doesn't work for you, you should try a different brand.
