Re: Decoding CD-i audio files
Perhaps it does, but I prefer something a little lighter. Like Artemis Fowl, The Eyes Of The Overworld, or Overlord. =============== Used abbreviations: - SP.F: Sound Parameter.Filter - SP.R: Sound Parameter.Range - SD: Sample Data of a SU (there's 27 in a Level B SU) IV.4.2 describes the ADPCM enco...

Re: Decoding CD-i audio files
You probably mean: "The only OTHER format ..." And even that's not really true; MPEG Audio sectors are described in IX.5.2. Yes, I did mean 'other'.. should proofread huge posts before copy-pasting them from NPP. I haven't read the whole book (1000 pages or so), so there could definitely be things ...

Re: Decoding CD-i audio files
actually, decoding a single 18-byte soundgroup, of which there are 128 in a 2304-byte audio sector I think you mean "a single 128-byte soundgroup, of which there are 18 in a 2304-byte audio sector". Ye old switcharoo, but inconsistent data is not something I'd let go uncorrected. Finding the correc...

Decoding CD-i audio files
First off, if what I'm posting here is breaking rules (or laws for that matter), I'll remove it. There have been at least several posts about how to get music from CD-i games (either because it's awesome, nostalgic, or just because). I know there's a tool or two that can do exactly that, but I've fo...

Re: Forum Open
Yes!
To be honest, this forum is about the only place you can reliably get any sort of tech answers regarding the CD-i.
I am very pleased that the forum is back in business
Feels good to have it back.

Re: Decoding cdi image files
You'll have to forgive the multi-posting, there's simply no replies in-between.. I've made progress decoding the garbled data. It was encoded in dYUV. This format also has an encoding size of 1 byte per pixel (actually 2 bytes per 2 pixels). Long story short: this could not have been decoded without...

Re: Decoding cdi image files
As an example of what sort of map data I get: http://www.shikotei.com/tmp/Fire%20Shrine%20region.png It's a raw conversion (data = 0x00 to 0xFF) from hex to RGB (R=G=B) (0xFF = RGB[255,255,255]; 0x00 = RGB[0,0,0]). The above image is a compilation of 3 images horizontal by 2 vertical. The region on ...

Re: Decoding cdi image files
Recently I've been re-doing some decoding attempts at The Apprentice and only getting the CLUT encoded images out (usually 128 colors). I'm stumped at the compiled sprites (I assume they are) and deviated to different discs to see if I can build from something that's a little less garbled than the s...

I need some help with decoding images. Thus far, the tool Opt_fr once made has helped me to get a lot of background images from The Apprentice. (thanks for that btw) But I need to find a way to decode the sprites themselves. They are coded differently and remain a mystery to me. Knowing that there a...

How hard can it be to use the 'search' button? Also, seeing the not-so-unlimited number of threads/pages in the tech-support section, scrolling down just a wee bit would reveal a helpful thread. "memory fault for the ...' in which this link can be found: http://www.cdinteractive.co.uk/forum/viewtopi...

Even though the auction at eBay has ended, here's what I found: http://www.icdia.co.uk/players/comparison.html It's a list of CD-i players and some key info. Yours is the 490 which has 32k RAM. If you have looked up the specs of the TimeKeeper (M48T08-150PC1), you would know it has 64k RAM. Though t...

Hey, fellow CD-i fans! There's quite a huge history/story/reason how it came to be that I ended up here and eventually registered. For as long as I can remember, my parents have had a CD-i player (205/00 for those interested), costing at that time a massive 1500 guilders (around 680 euros). Spending...
