All well-behaved CD-i games will tell you if they need the DV cartridge, as you've seen with Litil Devil (which indeed needs it).

Which games in particular are you having problems with?

PS. Posting the same message to two forums isn't necessary...

The CD-i system is notoriously difficult to program. There are toolkits that are supposed to make it easier, but in my opinition sticking with the "base" system is, in the long run, better. The Microware OS9 C compiler/assembler/linker set with all the required headers and libraries can be downloade...

You can save and restore NVRAM data to/from your PC using the CD-Interlink disc or my CD-i Link program, but both programs require a CD-i Nullmodem cable. Both programs can be downloaded from the ICDIA site. CD-i Interlink has a nice CD-i GUI but needs XMODEM (I think) on the PC end; CD-i Link is a ...

If I read it correctly, he wrote the basic 680xx emulation (without on-chip devices) in 10 days; that seems about possible (I spent more time on it, but that was in the very early stages and I wanted to get things "right"). From reading the link, I get the impression that he used an approach much li...

There actually is a difference between PAL and NTSC output (the former produces 560 video lines, the latter 480), but nearly all CD-i titles will compensate for this difference. This image is then scaled to your screen window (1:1 scaling is of course fastest and hence default, but you can resize th...

Most Philips players support a so-called "download" protocol that can be used to do this. The CD-i Link program speaks the PC side of the protocol, which is described in the documentation included with the CD-i Stub distribution. If your player doesn't support this protocol, you can use the "CD-i St...

Foleyjo, In principle you're right, of course: the real machine is "more real". But a good emulator is nearly the same, particularly if it runs full-screen, drops no frames and supports similar or identical controller hardware. I hope cdiemu will eventually get to that point. And an emulator has the...

There are currently at least two ways to load OS9 memory modules into cdiemu: Inject a "pseudo-ROM" file Use CD-i Link with the emulator Both have the same basic problem, however: how do you get the player to start your module? The only "documented" (sort of) way to do this is to have your applicati...

CD+G and PhotoCD (and in the future, VideoCD) are definitely on my list of "things that ought to work". As said above, these are really just specific CD-i applications and should therefore not be very hard (for CD+G you'd need ROM support of course, not all player models have it)... Regarding the op...

All player ROMs I've seen so far will indeed autoformat the contents of the NVRAM (at least under emulation...).
