Re: CD-i 210 IC bridge cable and PSU question

That is the System ROM chip (part 7240 in the datasheet), the wire bridge shorts the A0 input (address line zero) to GND, which makes NO sense. This should make the player not boot and might coincidentally damage the 68070 chip (part 7210) that drives this address line. Unless a board trace is cut s...

Re: Fan asks for "Philips CD-i Classic Mini", Philips answers: "We will try our best"

It is unclear who currently owns the licenses to the games, many appear to have been sold separately by Atari or its parent companies in recent years. Of course, it depends exactly what rights were sold... I think Philips does still have software licenses for CD-RTOS, which is really all they need i...

Re: What could have been!

Looking at the article in CDI blog, it’s really sad that the Apprentice 2 never got finished! It would have been a different team, because the creators (both programmer and graphics designer) of the original Apprentice had long left the company. This was probably the reason that Philips got cold fe...

Re: Remade: The Apprentice for PC

Just watched the entire video... really *really* good work! :) :) We know it here, but perhaps you should add to the YouTube description that everything is based on the original sprites, graphics, sound effects, music and level maps? Still an awesome piece of work, in particular knowing as I do that...

That's interesting. How do you do that ? Part of an example of a CD-i Link session from the cdilink.txt file (included in the download): cdilink -k Download cdistub and keep it active cdilink -c -b 19200 Continue by changing baudrate cdilink -c -dir /nvr List contents of NVRAM cdilink -c -ucopy /nv...

Re: Decoding CD-i audio files

So it's not the CD image that is at fault. Though.. it may have incorrect header data (ie the TOC) that misdirects IsoBuster. I don't think IsoBuster pays any attention to the TOC when extracting files, if you're opening a bare "bin" file it won't even have one. Many of files with issues had (what ...

Re: Decoding CD-i audio files

.. no cheat mode .. Aww. Dimo is one of the best games out there, but with the randomly generated passwords it's only really playable with a fully working (no dead TimeKeeper) console. Leaving the CD-i on for days is not something I'd advise. I wrote a tool to recover the full password set, see Dim...
