I think every system has its click of niche enthusiasts, doesn't it? Come to think of it, as far as CD based systems like the PlayStation One. Does that have any websites dedicated just to PSONE? Around the same generation as the Saturn but the media overload seems to have left it wanting in the af...

I still haven't played my Frog Feast yet  This is because I'm waiting for the thrill of 2 player mode!! Wouldn't it be great if we could all play against each other on-line, like in the Ram Raid days?? :D Charles - isn't the cd-i scene THE BEST? Maybe you should practice first. :) Online play...

Now, I'm going to make this story even more mysterious. Read my results right here I just received my original copy (Thanks Devin!) and it plays again flawless on my 490. No problem, no issue, not even after twenty try-outs. Maybe you guys should blow off the dust of your machines :D That's really ...

Try looking for the CD-ROM XA ADPCM format, it is a subset of the CD-i encoding (restricted sample rates and/or bitrates, I think). I believe FFMPEG is able to decode it; don't know if there is an open-source encoder for it... I wonder if ACU Shell or Media Stockroom (from icdia.co.uk) decode mode ...

You'll need the rom from a development player to use some of this functionality. Actually this isn't true; the first three options are internal to CD-i Emulator and do not require a specific ROM. The -term option needs a player with a serial port, but all Philips and most non-Philips player have th...

Here's the important command line options (refer to HOWTO, included with the CD-i Emulator): -debug - Starts with the debugger -disc - Used to specify a disk image. -playcdi - Immediately starts the CD-i disk. -term - Opens a terminal window. You'll need the rom from a development player to use some...

Debugging under CD-i Emulator.
Here are the tips that I used when debugging under CD-i emulator: The location of routines will shift around when the program is compiled. To easily find an address of a routine: 1) Make it global. In assembly, define it with a colon: Label: rather than Label Nothing special is needed in C. 2) At th...

Software needed
Here's the development software I used: The following four files are used to create disk images for the CD-i ImageMaker: http://www.icdia.co.uk/cdprosupport/files/pc/imgmaker.zip VCDMaster front end: http://www.icdia.co.uk/cdprosupport/files/pc/vcdmastr.exe VCD Toolkit, you only need vcdmastr.dll ou...

Articles related to CD-i development
This is a collections of articles that I found helpful for CD-i development: Programming the CD-i Player - Ernest West. http://cdinteractive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5 - This is a link to a post on these forums, there is also a word or PDF document somewhere. The Apprentice - some technical infor...

Frog Feast code.
I will be posting a simplified version of the Frog Feast source code this weekend. I've passed the code to CD-i Fan for him to look it over. I also have to write up the documentation on building the code, and creating a CD. Once the code is posted I will try to answer any questions relating to the C...

Re: Tested by: RW, Gator and John . . .
Hello! Answers Below! Thanks for the answers. Bas, I guess it comes down to you. If your CD-i has a problem with the disk, it's probably questionable CD-Rs. Could the CD-i 470/490 have a weaker laser, causing it to start failing before other models? A friend will be looking into getting his...
