I couldn't read my OS9 disks on the PC either, but the 605 had no problems with them. The sectors are 256 bytes, not the usual 512 for PC floppies, it could be that Windows XP has problems with this. Did you run ANADISK under plain old DOS? That is its intended operating system; don't know if the Wi...

CD-i has audio/video coprocessors, but you cannot "program" them. The video processor has control instructions that can be used for video effects, but nothing else (it can make a great smooth crossfade with very little cpu cost, though).

I remember often using the floppy for preloading a RAM disk (on the 605 you can make these so they survive a reset) with basic OS9 system utilities like dir, copy, list...

This list of "Floppy disc descriptors" from the "Technical documentation for CDI 605 users" document should pretty much answer your questions: d0 RBF 256 x 16 x 80 x 2 = 653,824 bytes d0h RBF 256 x 28 x 77 x 2 = 1,100,800 bytes d0hd RBF 256 x 34 x 80 x 2 = 1,388,032 bytes d0tb RBF 256 x 16 x 80 x 2 ...

What kind of "horsepower" would a Spectrum emulator require, then? Its only an 4 Mhz (or was it 6?) Z80 processor, right?

I remember getting a bugreport on one of these, and it was in considerable detail. Must have been before you dropped them... We had to fiddle mightily to debug it; the stupid @*@#* thing wouldn't accept the "standard" serial download protocol we used for consumer player debugging (and now happily (a...

The Grundig player was supposedly a version of the Philips CD-i 220 which could be compatible, depending on the exact 220 revision. Not all the 220 revisions are working yet, but it is looking promising. I don't know about any other emulator projects except iCD-i by game_hunter that you can find her...

You could set up such a simple "hello world" program and I've already halfway done it; just be patient for a bit... The maximum resolution ("high resolution") is 768x560 for PAL and 768x480 for NTSC, but it requires interlaced display and is not suitable for most applications. Most titles use "norma...
