Yes, regional coding does not exist on CD-i. There are only some differences in the screen output, sometimes not all the CD-i graphics are visible. The CD-i internally outputs to a fixed format, which then is converted to NTSC or PAL by a PAL/NTSC encoder chip IIRC. I would suspect the emulator woul...

Ehm, my French is pretty bad and putting this through babelfish doesn't really clear up things. So this guy was also going to release a CD-i emulator and announced a few days before the planned releasedate (6 August) that he was stopping the project? Aha, found it: http://www.gametronik.com/site/new...

Yes, I have it. Seems to be a rare game, don't remember the exact gameplay so it can't be that stellar :). From the manual it looks like it's a trading strategy game. You buy some stuff in one town and try to sell it somewhere else, with or without profit and risk being attacked by bandits etc. Also...

The reason for the autoformat function is very simply, it reduces production costs. When making a CD-i player, you can just put in a blank NVRAM from tape and put it in the player instead of having an extra production step of programming the NVRAMS which costs money. Lots of $10.000-$100.000 worksta...

If replacing an old NVRAM with a new NVRAM will work, soldering a new battery to an old NVRAM should also work. The replacement NVRAM chips also don't come pre-programmed. I would guess this sort of thing would be documented in the Green Book. Some NVRAM chips also have an external battery connector...

The goal of the emulator would be to emulate the hardware part of the CD-i player, so I guess it should also play CD+G and Photo-CD (it would just run the CD-i application like a regular CD-i player). I would be for open-source too. With closed-source there's always the risk of a project 'disappeari...

I'm not yet gone :). You can use the scanner directly from Paint Shop Pro. I think it was in the file menu, there should be an item labelled 'import' or 'devices'. Then select the 'twain' device and the scanner program will pop up. IIRC you can't directly start a scanner program with the drivers I h...
