Reissues and Special Editions

It works for the DVD market why not the video game market... right?
This seems to becoming quite a common feature in video games recently and with the rampant press about escalating costs producing a single game I guess we can expect more of this from the successful franchises. Current examples include Ninja Gaiden recently rereleased earlier as a budget game now it has been remade as Ninja Gaiden Black at the same budget range featuring all the on-line content with the Hurricane packs and more besides. Devil May Cry Special Edition is on the way hopefully they will alter the repetitive nature of the later levels although I have my doubts!!
Then the serialisation of games is on the horizon in SIN Episodes distributed through STEAM the digital distribution system created by Valve for Half-Life 2 which in turn is experiencing its own episodic content with the continuation of HL2 in Aftermath released later this year (Supposedly April).
What's your opinion on this new business strategy for the video game market?
