CD-i Websites Survey 2006

Just like one year ago, there are plenty of significant changes noticable on the Net about CD-i. In 2005 we saw the re-release of Le Monde du CD-i (A french CD-i website also capping the english language (yet arguable!), the rise of CD-i Emulator and the start of Philipscdi.com; 2006 brought us the rise of a CD-i index at Defunct Games, with loads (yet arguable) reviews of CD-i, the start of the CD-i Log at the Black Moon Monthly, ... I can go on like that! Again arguable, I appreciate the enthusiastic approach I feel from the guys behind the Eigenstart pages, which have changed some activity from http://cdi.eigenstart.nl to http://cd-i.eigenstart.nl - I have to admit I don't see this kind of attention this often. While these portals are not based on any new or valuable content; there's definately some love behind it to the CD-i system.

Also a little quote from last years poll is (sadly), still very true: "every forum seems to have its own club of posters, which is a real shame within this very small community."

So this year the list is a little bigger and I just like to see your interests when browsing for some info about our beloved and criticized CD-i system.

The Contestants are as following (the list is alphabetically ordered):

The Black Moon Monthly
The Black Moon Project
The CD-i Collective
CD-i Emulator website
Defunct Games CD-i section
Eigenstart CD-i pages
ICDIA
Le Monde du CD-i
Philipscdi.com

My vote for this year goes, perhaps surprisingly, to Defunct Games. This website seriously put CD-i on the map with a leading role in CD-i reviews, in my opinion one of the major updates we've seen about CD-i. While there have been a lot of discussion about their review style, the attention it gives to the system is loved by many of us!

I voted but I won't say for who as they all have their own attributes.

Look forward to your thoughts and the vote!

Heya, I'm glad to see some of you still like our CD-i reviews at Defunct, despite the criticismn.. Anyway, narcistic as I am, I also voted for Defunct Games :D - but I have to say I really appreciate The Black Moon Project. I use it as my primary database for information on CD-i games.

Consider that we've only touched the tip of this iceberg as far as general information about CD-i games goes and it's amazing how much the system has to offer to RetroGeeks like us! Compliment appreciated, I just wonder if the Games Archive will ever reach a critical mass where I can put my feet up and finally say it's finished!

I'm still having fun writing about and working with CD-i, which reminds me Tom. You wanna look at those crazy Game Over screens for The Apprentice? I have a ton of before and after shots for every single cheat which I captured through CD-i Emulator. Probably warrants a seperate thread, maybe even an entry into Defunct Games. About Anime Porn or something!

go for it ;)

I too can't get all those cheats working, and when they do, it looks like pure coincidence!

Yeah it takes a little practise to work out how to activate them!

Here's all the Cheat Codes with before and after shots: The Apprentice Cheat Code Game Over Screens
