Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Hi,
I've uploaded two movies from 1995 that Philips used to promote the CDI.
I have to admit I think that it's now funny to watch, as they still think CDI IS the future...
CDI 'conquest of the world'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNWOkhGV53o
in Dutch: CDI vs CDROM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDMqdWuP4LY
Jaap
PS
I extracted these videos from the CDI 'The world of CD-I 1995' using isobuster.
Although it says: 'for internal Philips use only, not for resale', I thought that after 12 years it is nice to share

Interesting, unfortunately I don't speak Dutch, so the second one wasn't very interesting to me
I got a good laugh out of the title for the first one CDI 'conquest of the world'

Very nice the first one actually uses a short clip of in-game Microcosm CD-i footage, while, in 1995, this was long cancelled...
Thanks Jaap, nice videos!

I'd say the video is older than 1995 when Microcosm was still in development. It doesn't mean anything that the disc the video was extracted from was made/released in 1995.

It sure does
! They published material in 1995 what used to be 'hot' in 1994 or before! I don't care how old the video is, but they
did publish it in 1995. Even more interesting is the fact this is the very first in-game footage being used as promotional video!

That's what I was saying. I'm not doubting that the disc was released in 1995, but the video was most likely done much earlier. It was for internal use anyway, so it might be a bonus, an old unused commercial that is.

OK, well I think it's remarkable. I wonder why they kept these promotional videos internally at Philips, while they look great to promote the system to anyone. Maybe they were used at gaming expos or something, I've never been there
