Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Manna Space is a CD-i prototype disc for a members only shopping club in Japan. The member can choose from 300 items, orders are sent to the Manna Space host computer by a high-speed modem. The disc is done entirely in Kanji (Japanese). The buyer takes a virtual elevator, then scrolls the store front interface and enters a store of interest. The Gift Selector will search the disc for the perfect gift given criteria such as: age, relationship, price range and/or occasion. The buyer can select sizes and colors from a graphical interface showing not only the color name, but the pattern as well. Features MPEG, Kanji and modem interface. (The basic concept turned into what we now call the internet!)

How old is this DVD player?
A lot of CD drive manuals, from several years ago, claim to read the CD-i format. But, most also state that they cannot play the contents of the CD.

It might only refer to "Digital Video on CD-i" discs, the predecessor of the VideoCD format.

Too bad ... it would be a nice alternative for those whose cd-i memory has died.
