BOXED Kyocera Pro 1000S on eBay!

I'm not sure if anyone has seen it yet, but a boxed (possibly complete?) Kyocera Pro 1000S CD-i player popped up on eBay! When I received my bare console (with hookups) last year, it sounded like there wasn't a ton of information available on them, nor do I recall seeing any photos of the actual packaging.

Has anyone ever seen one with the box before?

Here's the auction for anyone interested in it. Considering the infrequency that these pop up, the price might actually be worth it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-CD-I-CDI-KY ... 19d7e9b494

Never seen one of these boxed before, and this one looks in fantastic condition.

Very nice price too!

Yes this is amazing. Who'd have thought one would have come along boxed?

How is yours doing Austin?

Only problem as you both know is no DV capability

Otherwise I would have seriously considered buying it. I remember Austin you got yours at a good price :D

I'm not sure quite honestly, Alan. Last time I used it, on the couple games I tried, several background elements would not show during gameplay (Zenith for instance was unplayable--I could only see the bouncing ball and the HUD portions). I meant to go through the rest of my CD-i library with the unit (which isn't much--I parted out much of my games recently), but haven't gotten around to it yet. I've wanted to figure out if it's something wrong with my unit, or if it is an issue with these models in general. The next logical step to figure that out is by testing out a second unit, but I don't know if anyone else here has one.

Anyway, yeah, it seemed like a good price when I got it, if I recall correctly, between $100 and $150 USD after shipping. I don't remember at this point though. The only reason I jumped on it is that, for one, I had never heard of or seen the unit before, and I was a little more into having rarer items in my collection at the time. Two, I was also looking for a more reliable CD-i player at the time with the DVC built in (my 450 has a dead timekeeper, so it tends to be unreliable), and this seemed to be the best of both worlds (rare, plus useful). Unfortunately I didn't find out until after receiving it that it does not have DVC capabilities (although it seemed to most that it should have).

It doesn't look like this boxed one sold. The seller hasn't re-listed it yet though. :(

Austin I'm sorry to hear that you've sold off part of your collection.

I think it was $100.00 you bought it for, and the seller advertised it as having DVC capability.

I remember you mentioning before about the issues you had with it. Would be interested to know if the same occurs on all games, or just those you tested.

I have a prototype remote control for the Kyocera!! Can't test it though!

All the best,
Alan

Hi Every one,

This week-end I was able to present my Kyocero PRO 1000s player.

Here is a little video of it
