If i have to buy a new CD-I what would you choose , 220 or 490 ?
Gonna be less expensive than buying a new lens and drive.

What 220? Some 220s, 470s/90s and 380s had problems after a while when discs started skipping. Reason was the wrong grease on the head movement was used, it dried out and the head didn't move properly anymore.
I disassembled an old defective 605, got out the more powerful headmovement motor and plugged that into a 220/60 that was affected, cleaned away the grease and put some oil on it. Works like a charm now. But with spare parts now rare, you do want to look out. Test the player thoroughly, if it at this point in time still works well once it's warmed up, I think you're safe.

Oh yes, have a look at
this thread and I think you're good to go: 490 is one of the best you can get (cheap & good)

Nope

That was a cartridge-loaded 605. I got really sick of those dumb cartridges Philips used, and I got it for free anyway, so I disassembled it for parts.
Couldn't even take a MVC if I recall correctly.
