Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Isn't that something!! Tell me Kao, does this appear on the menu screen according to the calendar date of your CD-i player? I'll have to try this out

Oh, really? This is good, then!

If you remember, every time you select a level in Hotel Mario it would show a black screen and then display something like, "Morton Koopa and his creepy pals are waiting for your arival!" And then a couple seconds later it would display one of the above messages based on your CD-I player clock, with "Here We Go" being the default one.

BOOOOOOOOO Has to be Halloween!
Happy Turkey Day Gobble Gobble Hotel Mario was developed in America after all so here's one for Thanks Giving

You've pretty much got it, Devin! Allow me to go through these just once more because I think I might be able to ellaborate in a couple areas.

Happy New Year January 1st
Happy Valentines Day 14th of February
Do Not Forget Mothers Day 2nd or 3rd Sunday of May
Schools Almost Out End of May
Happy Fathers Day 2nd or 3rd Sunday of June
Happy Fourth Of July July 4th, silly!
Ready To Go Back To School End of August
BOOOOOOOOO October 31st
Happy Turkey Day Gobble Gobble 4th Thursday of November
Happy Holidays From the middle of December to January 1st
Here We Go Default
Its Hollies Birthday Sometime between New Years and Valentines Day. Refers to Hollie S. Lohff, the play consultant on this game.

These are the dates specified in the US version of the game. I'm not sure if they localized these dates when they released it outside of the US.

Very interesting, thanks for the full list Kao!!

I'll have to add this to the Hotel Mario Game Page, some great trivia.

I guess Hollie S. Lohff must have been a hottie around the office

I'll have to check on the European version to see if any alterations were made!!

Very cool! Let us know if you find anything.

Heh... I remember playing this game close to Christmas many years ago and I got this message. When my mother saw the message "Happy Holidays" she completely freaked out! This was before we had a modern computer with an internal clock mind you, so the idea that the CD-I "knew" what day it was really scared her. She even called tech support to find out what was going on!

I think these still need to be added to the gamepage. Anyone ever tried them out...?
