I have bought a laptop which does not have a CD drive but does have a DVD RW writer. I have some old CD software that I want to load into the computer. Can I load the CD software into this computer through the DVD RW writer or do I need to buy an external CD drive? Or something else?

Depends on the type of cdrom software?
DVD/RW are backwards compatible but some drives can't read certain formats i.e cd-i or psx etc.
Find the model of your dvd/rw drive and google it.
