220 Error issue

Hi all new to the CDI was most intrested by it
so i got one
220 model
when i turn it on with a disc in it displays "err" on its screan and the disc doesnt even spin ive tryed a few diffrent discs noting seems to work..
im a engineer so i plan to crack it open and have a look inside but any one who could point me in the right direction would be of great help..
