NVRAM memory capacity

Post by hush_pc » Wed Nov 11, 2009 10:50 pm

I recently replaced the NVRAM/battery module in my CDi 220. The original was an MK48T08-15 (2k x eight) and the new module is an M48T08-150 (8k x eight). So the old one is 16kb and the new one is 64kb. Will this increase the memory capacity of the CDi player? (Ie, is the player's firmware capable of taking any advantage of the new module's specification?)

I also fitted a socket to ensure an easier replacement in future..

No, the ROMs are hardcoded for a specific NVRAM size.

Ok thanks for the info :)

I mainly changed it as I use it as a CD player and the volume settings were not being remembered, every time I played a music CD I had to remember to turn the volume up using the remote. If I change another, I may use a ZIF socket if space allows (talk about pit stop replacement times ;)
