Alternative Power Adapter for Magnavox 200 Philips CD-i

Post by MysterioMask » Sat Mar 19, 2011 10:37 am

I recently purchased a Magnavox 200 Philips CD-i over Xmas and i was sent it without a power adapter even though the guy said he had it, when i asked him about he he said he doesnt have it and sent it with it but he never did. Its been very hard to find an adapter for it and dont want to purchase an entire other system for a few hundred.

Basically my question is is there any way to buy a laptop adapter set or use a dvd adapter and rig something up to get it to work for the CD-i system. Or does any one have any other ideas for getting the system to work that doesnt involve dumping a few hundred on another system or waiting 12 and 3/8ths years for another adapter to pop up online to buy.

It would be possible to take a wall wart with the same ratings and solder it to one end of an Ethernet cable and as long as you do it right will work. Universal wall warts are pretty cheap or you can get a Philips one on ebay but they are $$.

I had the same problem several years ago, but was unable to find a specification for the in layout (voltages etc). I have a functional adapter now but no spares, sorry.

Are you able to tell what the specs are now that you have one?
