Mpeg decoder datasheets

Post by angelheart » Tue Feb 03, 2009 4:47 pm

hi

Im looking for the developer documentation for the

C-cube CL-450 Mpeg 1 decoder chip and any technical info related.

CD-I player circuit diagrams would also help.

I looked all over the net but cannot find the info.

thanks

Do I detect a fledling CD-i emulator programmer here

I don't think there is much public info on most CD-i chips, and believe me, I looked hard! About the only ones I've been able to find are the VDSC and the 68070 CPU.

CD-i player schematics won't help you much, there are too many undocumented custom chips on the boards. I've gotten a nearly complete set, mainly so I could find out what particular chips are on each board. There is some company that sells CD-i service manuals.

I worked really hard on this project on behalf of Toni Wilen of WinUAE fame.

As a result, you may find the C-Cube CL450 manual here:

I've taken a look at the C-Cube documentation but it doesn't match anything I've learned from disassembling the CD-i Digital Video Cartridge ROMs (all models).

The ICDIA site lists the 22ER9143 as having a C-Cube chipset but I have been unable to confirm this in any way.

I think I have a 9143 around here somewhere, is it a matter of disassembly to confirm?

That would be useful but I don't really think it matters to me; the inner workings of the DVC drivers are too different from these CL450 docs.

Of course, it could be some other C-Cube chip...

Hmm, the fact that you're talking about disassembly probably means it isn't an 22ER9143, as these are supposed to be pre-production prototypes that probably didn't come in a housing at all.

But it's starting to be a hot issue... So if you can find it, please?
