Deluxe version of cd-i titles

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Deluxe version of cd-i titles

Post by Bas » Sat Aug 20, 2005 5:36 pm

do you have any? I'd like to collect as much pictues of them as possible. Mail me and i'll upload them! Or link to them right here.

Deluxe versions often are in a bigger box, or special editions like the wooden box from "Wines of France"

Thanks!

Peter Gabriel's Explora? Or was there never a "normal" edition? Got a big box sitting on a shelf here... Will post pic if it fits the bill.

Was it only in France that these were released?

As far as I know the UK had box versions for The 7th Guest, Cluedo and of course the Mad Dog McCree Boxset, as far as games are concerned I don't believe any PC Packaging styled releases were to be found.

Just bought some CD-i stuff today:

"WInes of France" in wooden box. Okay, it's cheap wood but still deluxe :)

"Xplora1" in a big box with a book

"The joy of sex" in a big box also with a book.

The wining and dining series, these have a CD-i inserted in the last page of a book.

And already lying on the shelf were a boxed version of Cluedo and Forbidden City.

I got 'head crash triple pack (8110056), which includes: Escape, Antistatic, Headcrash

I've seen the Cluedo games on ebay in a big box before (with marker pens, as far as I can remember)

I wouldn't consider the head crash triple pack a deluxe version, IIRC it's just a cardboard to hold the 3 discs. I have the cluedo box, also included are marker pens and erasable scorecards.

Nonetheless, I find it interesting how Philips put together cardboxes with titles combined and sold as a whole.

Boxes like this I'm aware of:
-The Hex titles in a box
-The first three james bond titles in a box
-The three NFL titles in a box (This is a different one because they started with the box before seperate release of the game, witht he others they started with individual releases and re-released them in a box)

iirc

Do you more?

I hate those stickers Cash Converters insist on putting on all their stuff. You can never get them off without leaving a sticky mess, infact one stuck on a card box like that would be nearly impossible to remove without perminent damage
