Golden Oldies 1 Game Page Updated

Post by Devin » Sat Oct 22, 2005 4:31 pm

The Golden Oldies 1 game page on The Black Moon Project has been updated with lots of new content including a quality Preview Image, European Front, Back, Picture CD and Manual scans available for download along with some general game information. This was a very peculiar release, it has no catalogue codes or information concerning the publisher or developer on the CD covers or in game at all. However play the game and the title screen does contain the Vision Factory logo in the background and when I checked the copyright on the CD itself the following information was found "Copyright The CD-i hacking factory 1994" which gives me some clue to the developer and year of release!! I rather assume it was a direct SPC Vision published title due to the lack of catalogue codes typical of Philips Media releases.

I suspect this is SPC Vision humour!! Perhaps they resented doing a conversion of existing Intellectual Property

"The Golden Oldies series began as a "time filler" project; it was unclear if the games would ever be released. When there were four oldies sort of working, there was a commercial opportunity to release. They were quickly finished, some music was added and a simple loader menu was put in front of them; then they were released into the world.

This was near the end of game development at SPC, development on more oldies was never started as far as I know. There must be an unfinished "memory" game somewhere, but that's hardly a "golden oldie"... "

And don't forget 'Pool'. another SPC game!

Updated the Game Facts and put the REAL Producer of this software into the top column.

Included some expanded Game Facts now that I located some credits hidden behind Guardians Highscore Table Screen!! Also some other screenshots from the title screen through some gameplay sequences right up to the Game Over screen... i'm nothing if a completist

Pay close attention to the SPC humour on this game with Stefan Pothuma credited as "Stefan Posthuman"!!

Taken some screen captures from the Invaders game. It's a damn shame that this particular game from the Golden Oldies series lacked any highscore table making gameplay a bit of a one shot experience! I'll have to make some screen captures of the prototype Invaders game bundled as a hidden feature on The Apprentice sometime.
