I suspected this wouldn't be a conversion directly from Namco itself and it turns out that an in-house division of Philips Media called "CD-i Conversions" handled the CD-i version of Arcade Classics. Very much doubt that CD-i Conversions was ever a proper studio, it appears to me that they were more likely a collection of talented coders from Philips Media who lead this conversion project. The information has been added to the Game Page.

This is all from the disc, the main credits are attributed to names i'm familiar with who worked at Philips Media. During the last roll the screen reads "CD-i Conversions 1996 Philips Media" so it's an educated guess i'm making here as I realy doubt Namco took a developmental role.

With you following strictly the information on the release, have you had a good look on the back side? It sais: Distributed by Philips Media, Published by Namco Ltd.

I'm reading between the lines to an extent as I don't believe this was published by Namco. It seems to me that Philips did all the work on these games and simply bought the license from Namco. Educated guess, i'd say the publishing agreement was part of the license deal so it appears that it was an absolute Namco Product.

It's really quite difficult with these CD-i releases!! Have you noticed how many games cross genres, i've created a more descriptive system for use now where sometimes two or more genres are mixed in a single game

Interesting story on this one actually!!

I was going to hold off on it until this version was in my hands for some decent scans but what the hell, may as well tell you now. The artist that worked upon various CD-i games including Pac-Panic, Atlantis - The Last Resort and Arcade Classics was one Johnny Wood. Now Johnny originally did this cover for Arcade Classics and it was given limited circulation until NAMCO voiced concern over the "sexy" and "suggestive" posture of Ms Pacman. Now NAMCO are very protective of any IP so Philips Media quickly reissued the game with the now common cover as displayed on the Black Moon Arcade Classics Game Page.

It was actually released, so maybe one day i'll be able to pickup a copy from ebay!! Due to the fact it was used as a preview GIF on PMPRO Before I knew this information I presumed it was simply the American version of the boxart. The true reason was more complex interestingly enough :D

No wait it was a custom cover job based on this image I saw lol, just asked the person I knew who had it lol. They saw this pic on the net and decided to make their own cover based on it. Thats why I said it looked similar to a PC one id seen before.
