you already answer your question... The 7th Guest offers Digital Video which is not supported yet. Therefor The 7th Guest does not work on the current version of CD-i Emulator.

CD-i Emulator is still developing! Digital Video Emulation is no small task but hopefully CD-i Fan will crack it

Oh yes, the CD-i version is much better just because how Philips was able to smoothen the videos in Full-Motion-Video. The PC cutscenes and walking are in a lower resolution or have a lower framerate (cutscenes/walking)
However, the CD-i version was crammed on one disc, thus leaving out a few puzzles to achieve that. That involves the letter puzzle in the kitchen, which I found pretty fun. Why did they leave that one out?

The puzzle in the kitchen is very fun indeed. I remember it involved a lot of letters Y. The most part of this game I played with the cd-rom version.
I think the puzzle with the cake is different in both versions. The puzzle in the hall was also changed, but it has the same solution. I don't know any other differences.
@ Heini_net:
The 7th guest will not run using the emulator. So I understand you have a (new) cd-i player? A year ago you wanted to run it with the emulator. I wonder why.

CD-i Emulator will someday support the DV cartridge, but not yet. Sigh...
Still swamped with domestic and work-related tasks here, but slowly getting some air...
