KNURDZ to sell entire OlderGames.com division...

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

KNURDZ to sell entire OlderGames.com division...

Post by OlderGames » Wed Nov 28, 2007 6:44 pm

Hello,

Thanks to everyone for all their support over the years. We will continue
business as KNURDZ Entertainment Group. After careful and lengthy
consideration we have decided it is best to focus on our largescale
projects. In doing so we have been considering the idea of selling
OlderGames in it's entirety. This will not affect pre-orders of our
new releases or pending sales of our products. All pre-orders for
our new Frog Feast editions will be shipping today.

It is with a heavy heart that myself, my colleagues, and our
company take our final bow today and move on to bigger things.
We look forward to our future with KNURDZ. And will always remember
the good times. If we find another company to purchase the
OG assets you can expect great things. There were, and are many
pending projects in our portfolio and with a strong focus and new
leadership, OlderGames will become stronger than ever.

Thank you for the years of memories,

RW BIVINS
CO-FOUNDER OF OLDERGAMES.COM

What will one buy exactly rather than just the domain name? It feels like calling it a 'division' is a little too much...

And Knurdz hasn't even been launched, has it?

Same question as Bas. While I don't have the money for a buyout right now, its something I would consider in the near future.

All development tools / kits, all contracts for publishing, all products
and catalog ownership, all technologies, all media, our entire archive
of undumped, and unreleased prototypes etc...

Still working on knurdz... hopefully this will free up the necessary
time to see it through to completion before the year is up.

Have a great week! :)

Let me know how fast you are looking to sell. I understand it will be a relatively substantial amount of money (though a ballpark figure would be nice), but its not something I could come up with instantly, seeing as though PtoP turns no profit, and doesnt even pay for itself yet. But at the same time, this is a serious inquiry.

you can imagine that this is still very vague. If I would make an offer at least I would like to know what is included.

So what types of development tools / kits, what contracts, what kind of technologies, and which undumped, unreleased prototypes?

(Email/PM is also possible)

I would be interested to know if the rights for the Oldergames released CD-i titles are also included and what kind of documents you have for this.

I understand Bas. You need to understand I have over 6 years of
"things" attached to this company. PM me and I can PM you back
with full details.

I would rather see it go to the right people than some sleazebags who
are just in it for the money and don't have a clue what retrogaming is
about. I know we can both respect that.

As for the other guy: There is no rush. We had two options: shut her
down and do limited stuff internally for things like CGE or cash out
and make some of our six years of investments back.

I'm looking at a high 4 figures to a low 5 figures. I am still not
sure what to ask but I know it is still a low price for everything
that comes with the brand.

Yes. A handshake and a pat on the back from the president of
Infogrames. Jack Sprite was also negotiated through it's creator
Rob Fulop and Infogrames.

They never gave us a contract because this deal was peanuts in
their eyes. A lot of our earlier stuff was the typical "deal on a cocktail
napkin" or "on a handshake". Things we do now have full paperwork
and contracts. Icebreaker 2, and all of our new 3DO titles are fully
contracted and there is still a credit of almost $400 in royalties in
regards to the Elite games that we have already pre-paid in an
advance upon contract signing.

I am more than willing to exclude liability to the new owner(s) of
OlderGames which is not a problem. Everything is clean as a whistle.

Thats what i figured, more then reasonable. I've been looking to expand Past to Present, and this would be one key area where I would love to start. Im not in it for just having prototypes or anything, and would definitely seek to keep going what you started. I'll start doing some research and see what I can do. If there's anything you already have set up, information wise, feel free to PM it to me. Any facts and figures would be great.

My assistant Christina keeps all sales records. If you want, PM
me your email address and I can have her send you an excel file.

The sales records seem to be posted on your website:

http://www.knurdz.com/business/

This would mean there werre 400 Oldergames CD-i sets sold, more than I would have expected. Or maybe that there are still a lot of mint copies :).

As I just wrote in a PM to Borman: those records are also outdated.
I know for a fact we have sold several hundred copies of our new titles
starting just before CGE all the way up to now.

NOTE: That file is also a speculative "forecast" of our recently
released products. It is far from exact.

I can get you an updated excel file if you PM me with an email
adress to send the info to.

Sorry to hear the business will be leaving your hands RW

In the rather selfish desires of us CD-i'ers, what does this mean for OlderGames relationship with Charles and RasterSoft with the upcoming CANNAONE?
