Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

The Black Moon Project Game Pages

Post by Devin » Sun Feb 05, 2006 12:55 am

Just to gauge opinion on the current updates with about 50 out of 130 Game Pages polished to a decent level of quality. To illustrate this point here's a comparison between an old and renewed Game Page...

Secret Mission Game Page, OLD
Secret Mission Game Page, NEW!

Now the updated NEW! version is the basic level i'm looking to achieve on every game page. With improved preview of the front jewel case cover, catalogue information along with developer, publisher, year of release and genre etc etc...

With time i'll be adding more resources to these pages with Arcade Classics, Atlantis - The Last Resort, Golden Oldies 1 and The Apprentice demonstrating the sort of presentation we can offer through each individual Game Page. Rather than an exhaustive compatibility list the Games Page will seek to indicate how CD-i Emulator is developing, Pac-Panic and Rise of the Robots with preliminary findings already posted.

So what's your opinion on this direction? Anything more you'd like to see? Perhaps you don't like the layout! Please post comments below.

Needless to say, I like the CD-i Emulator compatibility details!

The screenshots are also very nice. They give a kind of "feel" for the game that are hard to get otherwise.

I think it looks great, you can never have enough info on any game!
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

I first pictured it as a Spiders Web of resources and each Game Page acting as the key to these resources for every single game. It's been a long time coming but I think i'm almost getting what I pictured about 5 years ago! Fingers crossed it should evolve into a fairly comprehensive database for CD-i games with all the silly little facts most of us CD-i enthusiasts take for granted so a new generation of "CD-iers" can digest the information with no problem. Think all the pretty pictures adds to the presentation thanks to CD-i Emulator :D

Are these pages stored in any kind of database? Would it be possible to generate "reports" from this database? Or would you need to crawl all the individual pages to get such info?

I had a little search engine but that requires alot of modification and is something that i'll reintroduce just as soon as the Game Pages are upto scratch!

yes! a cross reference table! The ultimate CD-i catalogue!

To extend the Game Pages, I'd like to see children titles included, as well as unreleased games and reference titles. Maybe a whole new archive. That would be sweet. Oh, and a transfer to blackmoonproject.co.uk to get rid of those awful banners.
