The Black Moon Monthly Column - New

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Brilliant! I know you've always hinted at a story about Sidewalk/Funhouse, this just blew me away.

They really turned some titles out of those studios, damned efficient bunch :D

Nice look at POV. RetroGamer ran a story about Cinemaware in the last issue with quotes from David Riordan who later lead POV. Also a pretty cool article in itself.

I still never got the chance to meet him ;) I'd like to know more of POV itself, although now I just want you all to rethink some stuff about Defender of the Crown! I should recommend you all to wipe the dust of it and play it. Although it looks (and plays!) like an 8-bit game, this game really surprized me, especially its storyline and how that works out.

I'm a games journalist, I don't have time to play them!

I'll sneak in some play for this game soon, you've inspired me. The blogs really come a long way Bas. Love the new navigation bar, makes life a hell of alot easier! I think your giving every CD-i website a run for their money these days and the CD-i scene is all the better for it.

ooh I understand the situation! I too have way too little time to play, and I want to play so many games, in the end the only thing I get to is writing down some memories and call it even...

It's also amazing what the old magazines can dig up in my own memory, unfortunately DotC already existed for a few years before CD-i magazine started

Well, if you think it's Dark Castle 2, you're highly mistaken.

Looking forward to some more on the history of Telecity.

I actually had this discussion recently, about how much Philips lost on CD-i. When you consider this was but one part with a loss of 120 million Belgium francs the estimated damage of 1 billion dollars [to Philips] seems quite a conservative estimate.

Good to hear you've contacted Ton Janssen, I've also written to him sometimes about laservision :).

He is a very friendly man, and he is very enthusiastic we're hosting the story. He also scanned original Telecity material which you'll see in the next chapters! It's really a recommended story with some real insight info about the company.

oh you know my draft page is actually bigger than the current posts page, which means there's a lot on the drawing table to go live here! Unbelievable how much there is actually to write about CD-i, not even thinking on what you all (the readers) think of it.

Even though, I'm trying out the comment feature now, which means you can leave your comments right in the blog, which makes the responding to a specific item very easy. I've no idea if people will use it (I don't think so), but at least now they have an opportunity.

You know you can track the updates via RSS (something I'd recommend to the forum too!), bookmark this link in your RSS feed or as a live link in Firefox or IE7: RSS link

You can email your friends every post with only one click, and even more: enjoy!

Cool! You need a banner for this blog to get other sites to link up it's that good.

Maybe Insert Credit?

Seriously though what picture/caption would you want? Fancy some pixel pushing me!

I made a few banners by myself but they all end up being amateurish, it's hard to create something professional! However, I love the little update details on the front site:

and not to forget the smaller one:

Very nice! My plan is still to enhance it more and I want to integrate a whole template in it, I know it's possible, I just have to find out how, AND to find a nice cool template. Then, it's a matter of time and we'll call it Black Moon Version 2 :D

Once I get the idea of the game pages, I'm on fire :D

Only to give you an idea, ofcourse

OK, let's spam around a little more. Now there's a search function on top so you can search through the blog material for your favourite! It works just like the forum search, only now for the blog.

If anyone can help me with a cool template to enhance the site even more, please let me know!

TGN_rogue, If you have some spare time, can you create a cool banner? I'm sure you have the power to do that, I would credit you to the infinite.

Thanks for a good year, but next year will be better ;)
