Create your own Photo VideoCD

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Create your own Photo VideoCD

Post by Bas » Tue Nov 28, 2006 8:47 pm

This is a nice trick to create a fast PhotoCD, which is based on the VideoCD engine of the Philips software, and it will both play on your CD-i player (including DVC!) and on most regular DVD players.

I've tried a few and it works perfectly. Draw your conclusions after a nice guide you can find right here

It's much faster than the old PhotoCD format, and it's also compatible with DVD players (as it's just a VideoCD). It's also much faster than the slow PictureCD Kodak came up with for DVD players (as an update for PhotoCD). These Photo VideoCD's can hold up to 200 pics, with no slow-down! Try that with a Kodak format on CD-i or DVD!! :D

I have to admit that I've never constructed one of these. Probably a good time to give it a try seeing as my computer illiterate family need a way to view the holiday photos taken on the new fangled technology of a 'Digital Camera'! Thanks for the link Bas.
